Which Caribbean island contains the historic capital of Georgetown in the Cayman Islands?

The story behind the answer

Grand Cayman contains George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands.

George Town is on the western side of Grand Cayman and serves as the territory’s governmental, financial, and commercial center. Grand Cayman is the largest and most populous of the three Cayman Islands, which are a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean.

The town’s name is commonly written George Town, although many references casually use Georgetown. Its waterfront includes cruise facilities, government buildings, and landmarks connected with the islands’ maritime history.

Grand Cayman is famous for Seven Mile Beach, but that landmark is separate from the capital and is located along the island’s western shore. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are the other two principal islands in the territory.
