Curaçao is the Caribbean island containing Christoffelberg, its highest point.
Christoffelberg rises to 372 metres inside Christoffelpark in western Curaçao. The peak is a popular hiking destination, although visitors are generally advised to climb early because the island’s tropical heat becomes intense later in the day.
Curaçao’s landscape is relatively dry compared with the mountainous islands of the eastern Caribbean. Cacti, thorn scrub, limestone formations, and coastal reefs are prominent features, while the island’s sheltered western bays support tourism and marine recreation.
Curaçao is one of the three ABC islands, together with Aruba and Bonaire. All three lie off Venezuela, but Curaçao is the largest of them and is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
