Which Cambridge college employed C.S. Lewis after he left Oxford in 1954?

The story behind the answer

Magdalene College employed C.S. Lewis after he left Oxford in 1954.

In 1954, Lewis became the first holder of the newly established chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Cambridge. He was based at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he continued teaching, writing, and participating in academic life until his death.

Magdalene College, Cambridge, is distinct from Magdalen College, Oxford. The Cambridge college’s name is conventionally pronounced differently from the Oxford college’s name, and the two institutions belong to different universities.

Lewis’s move to Cambridge did not end his connection with Oxford. He continued to visit Oxford and retained friendships there, but Cambridge became his principal academic base during the last nine years of his life.
