James Caan replaced Richard Farleigh as a Dragon's Den investor in the fifth series.
Caan joined the British panel during the programme's fifth series, taking the place of Richard Farleigh. He was already known as an entrepreneur and investor, particularly through businesses connected with recruitment and executive search. His experience gave him a strong interest in companies whose growth depended on people, sales and professional services.
The change occurred while Dragon's Den was still establishing its long-term panel. Early Dragons left at different points, so viewers can easily mix up the sequence of replacements. Caan's arrival belongs to the fifth series, before several later investors joined the programme.
James Caan should not be confused with Touker Suleyman, Nick Jenkins or Kelly Hoppen, all of whom became Dragons in later periods. Nor should his television role be confused with the fictional character from the film The Godfather: this James Caan was the British businessman and television investor.
