Tom Pellereau invented The Stylfile after winning investment from Deborah Meaden on BBC's Dragons' Den.
Pellereau appeared on the programme with a curved nail-file concept intended to make manicures easier. Deborah Meaden invested in the business, and the product was developed and sold under the Stylfile name. Its curved shape was designed to follow the natural contour of a fingernail.
The pitch became one of the show’s notable product stories because it involved a simple, familiar household task rather than a complex technology. The business also illustrates that a televised investment is only the beginning: product development, manufacturing, retail distribution and branding still have to follow.
The Stylfile is sometimes confused with Tangle Teezer or Magic Whiteboard, two other businesses associated with the programme. Those are separate ventures with different founders and products.
