The British television series Dragon's Den was originally commissioned for BBC Two.
The channel launched the programme in 2005 as a British adaptation of a Japanese business-investment format. Its central idea was simple: entrepreneurs would enter a room, make a pitch, and attempt to persuade investors to provide funding in return for equity.
BBC Two has historically carried factual, documentary, comedy and specialist entertainment programming, making it the original home of Dragon's Den. The programme later became one of the BBC's best-known business series and was also made available through BBC iPlayer.
Viewers sometimes associate the show with BBC One because of its popularity and long run. However, the original British commissioning broadcaster and channel were BBC Two, not BBC One or a commercial network.
