BBC Two launched the UK television series Dragons' Den.
The British adaptation premiered on BBC Two in January 2005. The channel became associated with the programme during its early years, when entrepreneurs sought investment by presenting their businesses to a panel of high-profile investors.
BBC Two has traditionally carried factual entertainment, arts, science and specialist programming, making it a natural home for a programme combining business education with reality television. Dragons' Den explains concepts such as valuation, equity, revenue and profit through live negotiations rather than classroom teaching.
The broadcaster is often mixed up with BBC One because both channels are part of the BBC, and the programme’s later visibility made it widely known beyond its original slot. The important distinction is that the UK series began on BBC Two; this is separate from the channels used by Dragons' Den adaptations in other countries.
