BBC Two originally broadcast Dragon's Den when the British programme launched in 2005.
The first episode aired on BBC Two on 4 January 2005. The channel was known for factual, documentary, arts, and specialist programming, making it a natural home for a series focused on entrepreneurship and business negotiation.
The programme later gained a wider audience and became a major BBC brand, but its original home is an important part of its broadcast history. BBC One and BBC Two are both BBC television channels, which is why they are sometimes confused in recollections of the show's early years.
The British series is based on the Japanese format Money Tigers. Its central premise remained consistent: entrepreneurs pitch to investors, request capital, and offer a percentage of their business in return.
