Hilary Devey replaced James Caan as a Dragons' Den investor in 2011.
Devey joined the British programme for its ninth series after Caan left the panel. She was a businesswoman best known for founding Pall-Ex, a palletised freight distribution network that connected independent hauliers across the United Kingdom and Europe.
Her arrival brought experience from logistics, transport, and business-to-business services to a panel often associated with consumer products. Devey later left Dragons' Den after two series and moved on to other television work, including presenting The Intern.
The replacement date can be confused with the arrival of other investors because the programme has changed its panel several times. Kelly Hoppen joined later, while Sara Davies joined later still. James Caan had been a Dragon before Devey, so the wording concerns the specific succession in 2011 rather than the first or longest-serving investor.
