Deborah Meaden joined Dragon's Den as an investor in 2006 and became one of its longest-serving Dragons.
Meaden first appeared on the programme in the third series, following the departure of Rachel Elnaugh. She built her business career in leisure and retail, and she became especially associated with investments in consumer products, hospitality and family-focused businesses.
Her direct questioning and emphasis on commercial fundamentals became a recognisable part of the programme. She has also appeared on other British television programmes, including Strictly Come Dancing.
Deborah Meaden is sometimes confused with Kelly Hoppen, another prominent female Dragon. Hoppen joined the panel later, in 2013, whereas Meaden became a Dragon in 2006 and remained a regular investor for many years.
