Rachel Elnaugh is the British Dragon's Den investor who founded the Red Letter Days experience-gift company.
Red Letter Days sold vouchers for experiences such as driving, flying and leisure activities rather than conventional physical presents. Elnaugh founded the company in 1989, and it became a prominent example of experience-based retail in the United Kingdom.
Her business career led to her selection for the first Dragon's Den panel in 2005. The company later encountered serious financial problems and entered administration in 2005; rival entrepreneur Theo Paphitis acquired its assets.
This history can cause confusion because both Elnaugh and Paphitis are linked to Red Letter Days. Elnaugh founded it, while Paphitis later bought the business assets after its financial difficulties.
