Which British Dragon's Den investor founded the freight network Pall-Ex?

The story behind the answer

Hilary Devey founded the freight network Pall-Ex.

Pall-Ex was established in 1996 as a palletised freight distribution network. Its model connected independent hauliers so that freight could be consolidated and moved efficiently through a hub-based system. This approach helped smaller transport operators compete in a market where large-scale logistics networks had significant advantages.

Devey's role at Pall-Ex was central to her reputation as an entrepreneur before she became a television investor. She later joined the British Dragon's Den panel in 2011, bringing experience from transport, distribution and business management to the programme.

Pall-Ex is not the same as a conventional parcel-delivery company. It specialises in palletised freight, which is generally used for larger or heavier commercial consignments. The company and its founder are often mentioned together because Pall-Ex was the enterprise most closely associated with Devey's rise to public prominence.
