Which British broadcaster presented the first two series of the BBC show Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Adrian Chiles presented the first two series of the BBC show Dragon's Den.

Chiles was the programme's original presenter when the British adaptation launched in 2005. His role was to introduce the entrepreneurs, explain the pitch process and provide brief links around the investors' questioning. He was not one of the Dragons, whose job was to decide whether to offer money and business expertise.

Evan Davis replaced Chiles from the third series and became closely associated with the programme for many years. Davis's later tenure means viewers sometimes remember him as the original host, but Chiles handled the opening two series.

Chiles was already known for BBC radio and television work, including presenting The One Show with Christine Bleakley. He later became a presenter on ITV's Daybreak and continued working in broadcasting. The presenter and the investors are separate roles, an important distinction in questions about the show's early episodes.
