Which Belfast school did C.S. Lewis attend before moving to England for his education?
Answer
Campbell College
Answer
Campbell College
C.S. Lewis attended Campbell College in Belfast before moving to England for his education.
Campbell College was founded in 1894 by businessman Henry James Campbell. Lewis entered the school in 1910, but his time there was brief because respiratory illness led to his withdrawal after only a few months. He was then educated privately and later attended other schools in England.
The school is an important part of Lewis’s early biography, but it is often overshadowed by the institutions connected with his adult career. He later studied at University College, Oxford, and became a fellow and tutor at Magdalen College. Campbell College should not be confused with Methodist College Belfast, another prominent Belfast school that Lewis did not attend.
