Which Beach Boys single originally had "Little Deuce Coupe" as its B-side?

The story behind the answer

The Beach Boys single that originally had “Little Deuce Coupe” as its B-side was “Surfer Girl.” Released in July 1963, “Surfer Girl” was the A-side, while the car-themed “Little Deuce Coupe” occupied the reverse. Both songs were recorded during the same June 12, 1963 session at Western Studios.

“Surfer Girl” was written and produced by Brian Wilson, and it became one of the group’s signature early ballads. “Little Deuce Coupe,” written by Wilson with lyricist Roger Christian, represented the other major strand of the Beach Boys’ early image: hot rods, customized cars, and Southern California youth culture.

A common mix-up comes from the later album Little Deuce Coupe, released in October 1963. The song’s appearance as that album’s title track can make it seem as though the single originated there, but it first appeared as the B-side of “Surfer Girl.” The single also helped establish “Little Deuce Coupe” as a significant hit in its own right: it reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, unusually high for a B-side.
