Which Beach Boys album includes their hit cover of "Barbara Ann"?

The Beach Boys album that includes their hit cover of “Barbara Ann” is Beach Boys’ Party!.

Released in 1965, Beach Boys’ Party! was designed to sound like an informal live gathering, although it was recorded in a studio. The album mainly features acoustic performances of cover songs, with party chatter and crowd effects added to strengthen the spontaneous atmosphere.

“Barbara Ann” was originally recorded by the doo-wop group the Regents in 1961. The Beach Boys’ version featured lead vocals from Brian Wilson and Dean Torrence of Jan and Dean. Although the track was the final song on the album, radio stations began playing it heavily, prompting Capitol Records to issue it as a single.

The single became one of the Beach Boys’ biggest mid-1960s successes, reaching No. 2 in the United States. A common mix-up is assuming “Barbara Ann” was an original Beach Boys composition; it is a cover built around the group’s energetic harmonies and vocal interplay.
