The Beach Boys album from 1969 that includes the single “Do It Again” is 20/20.
“Do It Again” was first issued as a standalone single on July 8, 1968, shortly after the album Friends. Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, it deliberately revived the group’s earlier surf-music image after several years of more experimental and introspective material.
The song was later selected as the opening track on 20/20, released by Capitol Records on February 10, 1969. The album version contains a brief transition into “Workshop,” a sound-effects piece originating from the abandoned Smile sessions, making it slightly different from the original single.
A common mix-up is assuming that Friends is the answer because “Do It Again” followed that album so closely. Friends was released in June 1968, but the song does not appear on it; 20/20 is the Beach Boys album that includes it. The single reached number 20 in the United States and became the band’s second UK number-one hit.
