The UK version of Dragon's Den is broadcast on BBC Two.
The programme is a business reality show in which entrepreneurs present investment proposals to a panel of wealthy businesspeople, known as Dragons. Contestants seek money in exchange for a percentage of their company.
Dragon's Den became part of the BBC Two schedule after the British adaptation launched in 2005. Although BBC One is the BBC's main general-interest channel, Dragon's Den is associated with BBC Two rather than BBC One. The programme is also available through BBC iPlayer after broadcast.
The British series is adapted from the Japanese format Money Tigers. Its success led to international versions, including the better-known US adaptation Shark Tank. The terms “Dragons” and “Sharks” describe investor roles in related versions, not the same programme.
