Which BBC presenter hosted the first series of Dragons' Den in Britain?
Answer
Evan Davis
Answer
Evan Davis
Evan Davis hosted the first British series of Dragons' Den.
Davis is a British journalist, presenter and economist who became closely associated with the BBC's business and current-affairs coverage. Before and alongside Dragons' Den, he worked on programmes including BBC Newsnight and later presented Radio 4's PM and Today at different points in his career.
As host, Davis introduced entrepreneurs, explained the pitch process and provided continuity between the competing investors. The dragons themselves supplied the financial decisions and negotiations, while the presenter kept the programme accessible to viewers unfamiliar with business terminology.
Davis's role is sometimes mixed up with that of Adrian Chiles, who later presented the programme. Chiles became the show's presenter from the second series, whereas Davis hosted the first series when the British version launched in 2005.
