Rachel Elnaugh was the first woman to join the BBC Dragon’s Den regular investor panel.
Elnaugh appeared in the original series of the British programme, which began broadcasting in 2005. Her role was historically notable because she was the first female investor in the main panel.
She was already known as the founder of Red Letter Days, an experience-gift company established in 1989. That background gave the original panel a female founder with experience in consumer services and brand development.
Deborah Meaden later became one of the programme’s most prominent female investors, and Kelly Hoppen joined the panel years afterward. Those later appearances sometimes lead viewers to overlook Elnaugh’s earlier position in the show’s history.
