Which band performed “You Could Be Mine,” featured in Terminator 2: Judgment Day?

The story behind the answer

Guns N’ Roses performed “You Could Be Mine,” featured in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The song was released in 1991 and became closely associated with the film through its end-credit use and promotional music video. Arnold Schwarzenegger appears in that video as the T-800, linking the hard-rock track directly to the film’s machine character.

“You Could Be Mine” was written by Guns N’ Roses members Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. It was also released on the band’s Use Your Illusion II album, released the same year as Terminator 2.

The track is sometimes confused with the film’s orchestral score, which was composed by Brad Fiedel. Guns N’ Roses supplied a separate popular song, while Fiedel created the recurring mechanical musical themes heard throughout the movie.
