Which award did Mario Kart World win at The Game Awards 2025?

Mario Kart World won Best Sports/Racing Game at The Game Awards 2025.

The award recognized the game in the sports and racing category during the 2025 ceremony. Mario Kart World was also nominated for Best Family Game, but it did not win that category according to the game’s awards listing.

The distinction matters because Mario Kart World competed in more than one category. Its racing identity made the sports-and-racing award a natural fit, while its accessible characters and family-friendly multiplayer supported the separate family-game nomination.

The award was presented after the game’s June 5, 2025 release for Nintendo Switch 2. It is separate from the 2026 D.I.C.E. Awards, where Mario Kart World later won Racing Game of the Year. Those two honors are sometimes conflated because both celebrate the game’s racing design.
