Shay is the central character of Assassin's Creed Rogue, released in 2014. He begins as an Assassin operating in the North Atlantic during the Seven Years' War, but a crisis involving an earthquake and the pursuit of Precursor artifacts causes him to reject the Brotherhood's methods. He eventually joins the Templar Order and hunts former allies.

That change of allegiance is the defining feature of Rogue. The game allows players to experience the series' conflict primarily from a Templar perspective, while still using familiar stealth, naval exploration, and artifact mythology.
