Ezio Auditore is the Assassin's Creed protagonist who stars in the Renaissance trilogy set largely in Italy.
Ezio first appears in Assassin's Creed II, released in 2009. His story begins in Florence after the execution of members of his family, an event that leads him into a lifelong struggle against the Templars. The game follows his growth from a young nobleman into a skilled Assassin while visiting major Italian cities such as Venice and Florence.
His story continues in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, whose main setting is Rome, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, which takes him to Constantinople. Together, these games cover several decades of his life and connect his story with Altaïr's.
Ezio is often mistaken for the hero of Assassin's Creed III, Connor Kenway, or Black Flag's Edward Kenway. He remains one of the franchise's best-known protagonists because his trilogy combines personal revenge, Italian Renaissance history, and the continuing modern-day storyline.
