Basim Ibn Ishaq is the Assassin's Creed protagonist known simply as Basim.
Basim is the central character of Assassin's Creed Mirage, released in 2023. The game follows his life in 9th-century Baghdad, where he begins as a street thief and becomes involved with the Hidden Ones. Under the guidance of Roshan, he develops into a skilled initiate and Assassin while investigating a conspiracy connected to the Order of the Ancients.
Basim had previously appeared as an important character in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Mirage serves as a prequel to that game and explores his earlier life, training, and motivations. Its Baghdad setting is organized around districts and landmarks inspired by the Abbasid capital during the Islamic Golden Age.
Eivor is Valhalla's main playable Viking protagonist, Bayek stars in Origins, and Arno is the protagonist of Unity. Those names are plausible alternatives because each belongs to a major Assassin's Creed hero, but none is Basim's given name. “Ibn Ishaq” is a patronymic meaning “son of Ishaq,” rather than a separate protagonist identity.
