Ezio Auditore is the Assassin's Creed protagonist known as the Mentor of the Assassins in Renaissance Italy.
Ezio's story spans three major games: Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations. Across those adventures, he grows from a Florentine nobleman's son into a highly experienced leader. In Brotherhood, he helps organize the Roman Assassins and becomes their Mentor, a title that identifies the senior leader of an Assassin Brotherhood.
The title is not simply a nickname for every famous Assassin. Altaïr is the central protagonist of the first game and later becomes Mentor in his own historical era, while Connor and Edward Kenway lead different stories and regions. Ezio's association with Renaissance Italy and his long three-game arc make him the character most commonly linked with the title in popular discussion.
Ezio's final chronological appearance as a protagonist is in Revelations, which is set largely in Constantinople. That game also brings him into contact with Altaïr's legacy, connecting two of the series' earliest major heroes.
