Which Assassin’s Creed Odyssey protagonist is identified as the canon character in the game’s novelization?

The story behind the answer

Kassandra is identified as the canon protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in the game’s novelization.

Odyssey lets players choose either Kassandra or Alexios as the playable mercenary, and both choices lead through the same broad ancient Greek adventure. Ubisoft later established Kassandra as the canonical character for the story’s official continuity, while Alexios remains a fully playable option in the game.

The novelization by Gordon Doherty follows Kassandra’s version of events. Odyssey is set during the Peloponnesian War in the fifth century BCE and includes encounters with historical figures such as Socrates, Pericles and Hippokrates.

Kassandra is not the same character as Aya, Bayek or Eivor. She is connected to the wider Assassin’s Creed mythology through the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus and the Isu heritage explored in the modern-day storyline.
