Which Assassin’s Creed game was the first to use the AnvilNext engine?
Answer
Assassin’s Creed III
Answer
Assassin’s Creed III
Assassin’s Creed III was the first Assassin’s Creed game to use the AnvilNext engine.
Ubisoft introduced AnvilNext with Assassin’s Creed III, released in 2012. The engine was developed as an evolution of Ubisoft’s earlier Anvil technology and supported larger environments, improved animation, more dynamic weather, and expanded crowd systems for the game’s North American setting.
Assassin’s Creed III follows Connor Kenway during the American Revolution and includes cities, frontier areas, and naval sequences. Its technological foundation helped Ubisoft build more expansive worlds and more complex environmental interactions than earlier entries in the series.
Later games used revised versions of the technology. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag continued with an updated AnvilNext, while Assassin’s Creed Unity introduced AnvilNext 2.0. This makes Unity a common wrong answer: it is associated with a major engine upgrade, but it was not the first title to use AnvilNext. Origins later moved the series toward a substantially redesigned role-playing structure.
