Which Assassin’s Creed game takes place mainly in ancient Egypt and stars Bayek of Siwa?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Origins takes place mainly in ancient Egypt and stars Bayek of Siwa.

Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Origins in 2017. The game follows Bayek, a Medjay from the oasis of Siwa, during the first century BCE. His investigation into threats against his family gradually develops into a larger story about the origins of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later becomes the Assassin Brotherhood.

The campaign spans regions of Ptolemaic Egypt, including Alexandria, Memphis, Cyrene, and the Great Sphinx area. Cleopatra and Julius Caesar appear as historical figures within the game’s fictionalized political narrative. Origins also introduced a more expansive role-playing structure, including levels, equipment statistics, and a broad map.

The title refers to the origins of the Assassin tradition rather than the beginning of the entire fictional human conflict. The earlier games depict an established Brotherhood, while Origins explains how Bayek and Aya help form the Hidden Ones. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey follows later, in ancient Greece.
