Which Assassin's Creed game stars Shay Patrick Cormac, who leaves the Assassins?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Rogue stars Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin who leaves the Brotherhood.

Shay begins the story as an Assassin operating in the North Atlantic during the Seven Years' War. After a disastrous mission involving an ancient artifact and an earthquake in Lisbon, he rejects the Brotherhood's methods and joins the Templars. The game then presents the Assassin-Templar conflict from a Templar-aligned protagonist's perspective.

Rogue's setting includes the North Atlantic, the river valley around New York, and parts of the Appalachian frontier. Shay uses a ship called the Morrigan, and the game adds environmental dangers such as freezing water and drifting ice to its naval exploration.

The title is linked directly to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed III. Characters and events connect the games, while Rogue's ending leads into the opening situation of Assassin's Creed Unity. Shay is therefore not simply another Assassin protagonist: his defining role is his defection.
