Assassin’s Creed Rogue stars Shay Patrick Cormac as its protagonist.

Shay begins the story as an Assassin during the Seven Years’ War. After a mission goes disastrously wrong, he becomes disillusioned with the Brotherhood and eventually joins the Templars, making him one of the series’ most prominent protagonist-switching characters.

Rogue is set mainly in the North Atlantic, the river valleys of North America, and New York City. Its naval gameplay builds on systems from Black Flag while adapting them to colder waters and ice-filled environments.

The game is sometimes confused with Unity because both were released in 2014 and their stories intersect near the end of Rogue. However, Unity follows Arno Dorian in Paris, while Rogue centers on Shay’s break with the Assassins.
