Which Assassin’s Creed game lets players control Shay Cormac after he leaves the Brotherhood?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Rogue lets players control Shay Cormac after he leaves the Brotherhood.

Shay Patrick Cormac begins the game as an Assassin operating in the eighteenth-century Atlantic world. After a mission involving an ancient Precursor site ends in catastrophe, he becomes disillusioned with the Brotherhood and eventually joins the Templars. The game then presents the conflict from the Templar side.

Rogue’s locations include the North Atlantic, the River Valley, and New York City. Its naval gameplay connects it to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, while its storyline leads directly toward Assassin’s Creed III and the events surrounding the colonial Assassins.

Shay is not the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed III; that role belongs to Connor, also called Ratonhnhaké:ton. Rogue is also different from Unity, which launched alongside it in 2014 and follows Arno Dorian in revolutionary Paris.
