Which Assassin’s Creed game introduced the series’ ancient Egyptian setting?
Answer
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Answer
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Origins introduced the series’ ancient Egyptian setting. Ubisoft released the game in 2017, and its story is set mainly during the Ptolemaic period of Egypt.
The protagonist is Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay who becomes involved in the events that lead to the formation of the Hidden Ones, the historical precursor to the Assassin Brotherhood. Bayek’s personal quest is closely tied to the political struggles surrounding Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII.
Origins also changed the series’ gameplay structure by adding stronger role-playing systems, gear levels, loot, and a large open world. Its ancient Egyptian map includes locations such as Alexandria, Memphis, and the Sinai Peninsula. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey followed with an ancient Greek setting, while Valhalla moved to Viking-era England and Norway.
