Which Assassin’s Creed game introduced the playable Templar Shay Cormac?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Rogue introduced Shay Cormac as a playable Templar.

Released in 2014, Rogue follows Shay Patrick Cormac, an Irish-American sailor who begins the story as an Assassin. After a mission involving a disastrous earthquake in Lisbon, Shay loses faith in the Brotherhood’s methods and eventually joins the Templars.

The game is set mainly during the Seven Years’ War, before the events of Assassin’s Creed III. Its locations include the North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley, and New York. Shay’s change of allegiance lets the player experience familiar Assassin mechanics from a Templar perspective.

Rogue is notable for connecting several earlier stories. It includes appearances by Haytham Kenway and Achilles Davenport and leads directly toward the opening circumstances of Unity. Shay is not the protagonist of Unity; that game follows Arno Dorian in revolutionary Paris.
