Which Assassin's Creed game introduced the modern parkour-focused London setting of 1868?
Answer
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Answer
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Syndicate introduced the series' London setting of 1868.
Released in 2015, Syndicate is set in Victorian London during the Industrial Revolution. The playable protagonists are twins Jacob and Evie Frye, who attempt to dismantle Templar control over the city and build an Assassin presence there.
The game features recognizable areas and landmarks including Westminster, the City of London, the Thames, and Buckingham Palace. A rope launcher was added to help the twins cross gaps and climb buildings more quickly, while horse-drawn carriages became a major transportation and combat feature.
Syndicate is distinct from Unity, which takes place in revolutionary Paris several decades earlier. It is also not the same as the modern-day London appearances in other media. The year 1868 places the game near the end of the Victorian era and at the height of industrial expansion.
