Which Assassin’s Creed game introduced the first playable female protagonist, Aveline de Grandpré?
Answer
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation
Answer
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation introduced Aveline de Grandpré, the series’ first playable female protagonist.
Liberation was originally released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012 and is set in 18th-century Louisiana, particularly New Orleans and surrounding regions. Aveline is a Louisiana Creole Assassin who opposes Templar activity while navigating the social and political world of the colonial period.
The game gives Aveline multiple disguises, including a lady, an assassin, and a slave persona. Each disguise affects movement, social access, equipment, and available activities, making identity and class important parts of its gameplay.
Liberation later received versions for other platforms, including a remastered edition released alongside Assassin’s Creed III Remastered in 2019. It is distinct from the main console release of Assassin’s Creed III, whose protagonist is Connor.
