Which Assassin's Creed game follows Ezio Auditore da Firenze's rise as an Assassin?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed II follows Ezio Auditore da Firenze's rise as an Assassin.

Released in 2009, Assassin's Creed II is set mainly in Renaissance Italy and begins with Ezio as a young Florentine nobleman. After a family tragedy, he becomes involved in the conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templars.

The game visits locations including Florence, Monteriggioni, Venice, and Forlì. Ezio learns from mentors such as Mario Auditore and gradually uncovers a conspiracy connected to the powerful Borgia family and the Templar Order.

Brotherhood and Revelations continue Ezio's story, which is why the titles are often mixed up. Brotherhood focuses heavily on Rome and the rebuilding of the Assassin Brotherhood, while Revelations follows Ezio in Constantinople. Assassin's Creed II is the game that introduces his transformation.
