Which Assassin's Creed game first introduced the Animus Control Panel for players?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Origins first introduced the Animus Control Panel for players.

The Animus Control Panel is a post-launch customization tool for the PC version of Origins. It allows players to adjust selected gameplay parameters, including character abilities, movement-related settings, health, damage, and other options. Ubisoft presented it as a way to create unusual play styles and challenge runs rather than as part of the historical story.

The feature is separate from the Animus interface used in the series’ modern-day framing narrative. In the fiction, the Animus is a machine that lets users experience genetic memories. The Control Panel is a player-facing utility layered onto the game, so the two terms should not be treated as identical story objects.

Origins launched in 2017, and the Control Panel was added later as a free update for PC players. It is therefore easy to confuse the feature with ordinary difficulty settings or with later accessibility options. The tool is associated specifically with Origins, not with Assassin’s Creed II, Odyssey, or Valhalla.
