Which Assassin’s Creed game first introduced multiplayer gameplay?
Answer
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
Answer
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood
Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood was the first Assassin’s Creed game to introduce multiplayer gameplay.
Released in 2010, Brotherhood added a competitive multiplayer mode in which players hunted one another through crowded locations. Players selected trained characters, identified targets, and attempted assassinations while avoiding detection by their own pursuers.
The multiplayer mode was separate from the main single-player campaign, which follows Ezio Auditore in Rome. The story also introduced the idea of rebuilding and expanding the Assassin Brotherhood by recruiting citizens and assigning them to missions.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations later expanded the multiplayer offering with additional maps, characters, and customization. That sequel is sometimes mistakenly credited with introducing multiplayer because it received substantial multiplayer attention, but Brotherhood came first. The feature was later discontinued in several older games as their online services were retired.
