Answer
Alfred Stieglitz
Answer
Alfred Stieglitz
Alfred Stieglitz became Georgia O'Keeffe's husband in 1924.
Stieglitz was an American photographer, modern-art promoter, and gallery owner. He first encountered O'Keeffe's abstract charcoal drawings through his associate Anita Pollitzer and displayed them at his New York gallery, 291, in 1916. That exhibition introduced O'Keeffe to the New York art world and began a major personal and professional relationship.
They married on December 11, 1924. Stieglitz photographed O'Keeffe extensively, producing more than 300 portraits of her over several decades. Their relationship was important to both artists' careers, but O'Keeffe was not simply a subject of his photography: she developed an independent reputation through paintings shown in New York and elsewhere. Stieglitz died in 1946, after which O'Keeffe increasingly divided her time between New Mexico and New York.
