Which architect designed the early McDonald's restaurant buildings with Golden Arches?

The story behind the answer

Stanley Clark Meston designed the early McDonald's restaurant buildings with Golden Arches.

Meston was an architect who worked with McDonald's in the 1950s, when the company was developing a distinctive building design for its expanding chain. The buildings used large yellow arches on either side of the structure, making the restaurants visible from the road.

Those arches were originally architectural elements rather than a corporate logo. Their strong shape and bright color made them effective roadside identification, and the company later transformed the concept into the Golden Arches symbol.

Meston is often confused with Jim Schindler. Meston designed the earlier restaurant architecture, while Schindler created the 1962 logo that combined the arches into the familiar M shape.
