Which arcade game is known for using vector graphics and destroying asteroids in space?

The story behind the answer

Asteroids is the arcade game known for using vector graphics while players destroy asteroids in space.

Atari released Asteroids in 1979, and Lyle Rains and Ed Logg designed it. The player pilots a small ship in a wraparound space field, rotating, thrusting, and firing at drifting asteroids. Large asteroids split into smaller ones when shot, creating additional targets.

The game used vector display technology rather than drawing its objects as filled bitmap images. Its minimalist black-and-white presentation made the bright geometric outlines especially distinctive on arcade monitors.

Asteroids also became famous for allowing players to enter initials on a high-score table. The game is sometimes confused with Lunar Lander, another Atari vector arcade title, but Lunar Lander focuses on controlled landings rather than asteroid destruction.
