Which arcade game has players guide a frog across a road and a river without being hit?

The story behind the answer

The arcade game in which players guide a frog across a road and a river without being hit is Frogger.

Konami developed Frogger and released it in 1981. The player moves a frog upward from the bottom of the screen, first crossing lanes of traffic and then using logs, turtles, and crocodile-free gaps to cross a river. The goal is to fill several safe home positions at the top before losing all lives.

Frogger’s challenge comes from timing rather than direct combat. Cars and trucks travel in multiple lanes, while river objects move in alternating directions and at different speeds. Turtles can submerge, making some apparently safe platforms temporary. Sega distributed the game internationally, and its simple rules made it immediately understandable to arcade visitors. Frogger is often confused with later road-crossing games, but its combination of traffic lanes, floating platforms, and multiple home slots is the defining structure of the original arcade game.
