Which ancient wonder was constructed on the island of Rhodes after the city resisted a siege?

The Colossus of Rhodes was constructed after Rhodes resisted a siege by Demetrius I of Macedon.

Demetrius, son of Antigonus I, attacked Rhodes in 305–304 BC because the island supported his opponents. The Rhodians successfully held out, and the siege machinery left behind was reportedly sold to help finance the statue.

The monument honored Helios, the city’s patron sun god. It was designed by Chares of Lindos and made from bronze plates attached to an internal framework.

The Colossus did not survive long. An earthquake brought it down around 226 BC, and ancient accounts say that the fallen fragments remained visible for centuries before being removed or lost.
