Which ancient wonder is the only one still substantially surviving today?

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the only ancient wonder still substantially surviving today.

Built in Egypt during the Fourth Dynasty for Pharaoh Khufu, the pyramid was completed around 2560 BC. It originally stood about 146.6 metres high, although erosion and the loss of its outer casing reduced its height. It remained the world’s tallest human-made structure for roughly 3,800 years.

The other six wonders disappeared through earthquakes, fire, warfare, or the gradual destruction of their materials. The Great Pyramid also lost much of its polished white Tura limestone casing, which made its original surface smoother and brighter than the stepped appearance visible today.

It is often confused with the entire Giza pyramid complex. The ancient wonder specifically means Khufu’s Great Pyramid, not the nearby pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, although all three form part of the same monumental cemetery.
