Which ancient structure is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World?

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was built as a tomb for the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu during the Fourth Dynasty, probably in the twenty-sixth century BCE. The pyramid forms part of the Giza pyramid complex near modern Cairo.

The Great Pyramid originally stood about 146.6 metres high and was the tallest human-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years. Most of its smooth outer casing stones were later removed, leaving the stepped core blocks visible today.

The pyramid was constructed from millions of stone blocks, although the exact building methods remain debated. It is the only one of the traditional Seven Wonders still substantially surviving. The Great Pyramid is sometimes called the Pyramid of Cheops, using the Greek form of Khufu’s name. It should not be confused with the entire Giza pyramid complex.
