Which ancient epic includes a flood survivor named Atrahasis?

The story behind the answer

The ancient flood survivor named Atrahasis appears in the Atrahasis Epic. This Akkadian poem, preserved on cuneiform tablets, tells how the god Enki warns Atrahasis about a divinely sent flood and instructs him to build a boat and preserve life.

The surviving Old Babylonian tablets date to the second millennium BCE, although the story belongs to a wider Mesopotamian tradition. Atrahasis is also connected with the flood account later incorporated into the Epic of Gilgamesh, where the survivor is called Utnapishtim. The names differ because the works belong to related but distinct textual traditions.

The Enuma Elish is another major Babylonian composition, but it is a creation epic rather than the work named here. The Iliad and Odyssey are Greek poems associated with Homer and do not contain the Atrahasis flood narrative. These distinctions help separate Mesopotamian creation and flood texts from one another.
