Which ancient civilization is the main setting of Assassin's Creed Odyssey?
Answer
Ancient Greece
Answer
Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece is the main setting of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The game takes place during the Peloponnesian War in the fifth century BCE, especially around the conflict between Athens and Sparta.
Players choose Alexios or Kassandra as the protagonist, both descendants of the Spartan king Leonidas I. The story travels through mainland Greece and the Aegean world, combining historical locations with mythological elements and fictionalized versions of legendary creatures.
Odyssey is a role-playing game with dialogue choices, branching quests, equipment levels, naval travel, and large-scale battles. Its historical setting comes before that of Assassin's Creed Origins, which takes place in Ptolemaic Egypt centuries later.
The word Odyssey can also make people think of Homer's ancient poem, but the game is not an adaptation of that work. Its principal historical backdrop is the Greek world during the Peloponnesian War, rather than Egypt or the later Roman period.
