Sparta is the home city of Kassandra's family in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Kassandra is one of the two selectable protagonists in Odyssey, while the other is Alexios. When Kassandra is chosen, the story presents her as a Spartan mercenary descended from King Leonidas I. The game begins with Leonidas at the Battle of Thermopylae before moving to the Peloponnesian War in the fifth century BCE.
Kassandra's family history is tied to Sparta, the Agiad royal line, and the island of Kefalonia. The game's open world includes many Greek regions, including Attica, the Peloponnese, Macedonia, and numerous Aegean islands. Sparta itself is therefore one part of a much larger ancient Greek setting.
Athens is a major rival power and an important location, but it is not Kassandra's family home. Delphi is associated with the Oracle of Apollo, while Thebes is another Greek city encountered in the wider world.
