Answer
Preakness Stakes
Answer
Preakness Stakes
The Preakness Stakes is the American Triple Crown race run at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
The Preakness is the second leg of the United States Triple Crown. It is traditionally held two weeks after the Kentucky Derby and three weeks before the Belmont Stakes. Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, has hosted the race since its inaugural running in 1873, apart from periods when it was held at other Maryland venues.
The race is contested over 1 3/16 miles, or 9.5 furlongs, on dirt. Its traditional nickname is “the Run for the Black-Eyed Susans,” referring to the blanket of flowers presented to the winner. The Preakness should not be confused with the Belmont Stakes, which historically served as the final Triple Crown leg.
